Giving
“Honor the Lord with your substance and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will be bursting with wine.”
– Proverbs 13:9-10, NRSV
There are various ways to give:
Envelopes for cash gifts are available in the pews for your convenience or a box of envelopes may be requested for use throughout the year. Envelopes with cash gifts or checks made out to Wallingford Presbyterian Church may be placed in the offering plate during Sunday services. Contributions may also be mailed to the church office.
Many banks allow you to transfer funds directly from your account to another, often at no charge. Such gifts may be one-time or recurring.
Making a gift from appreciated stock or mutual funds creates a win-win situation for both you and the church. You receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock or mutual fund. Long-term appreciated assets have a fair market value greater than their cost since they were generally purchased more than 12 months earlier. Contact Treasurer Andy Yost for details on how you can instruct your brokerage to transfer securities to Wallingford Presbyterian Church.
If you don’t want to set up an account with us, you can make a gift through PayPal, which accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover and most bank cards.
If you are over 70 ½, you may realize tax advantages by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA to the church. QCDs satisfy required minimum distribution (RMD) requirements. For more information, consult your financial advisor. Treasurer Andy Yost can provide details on how to instruct your brokerage to transfer securities to WPC.
