Pastor François Lacroix

Pastor François Lacroix

Pastor

I was born in a small village on the Belgian and French border. As the church is often at the geographic center of European villages so it was at the center of our life as a family.

After immigrating to the U.S. I developed a healthy appreciation for liberal thinking, the need for spiritual expression and an acceptance of religion as a vehicle to Grace, wholeness, and peace.

Technically my first language was French, but as I remember, it was music. Nietzsche, once said, “Without music, life would be a mistake… I would only believe in a God who knew how to dance.” I’ve been dancing with God ever since because first and foremost the call to follow Jesus is an invitation to a life of passion and joy.

Service in the United States Navy Chaplain Corp gave me an opportunity to practice ministry in an ecumenical setting. Later I served with congregations in Geneseo, NY and in San Antonio, TX, giving me an appreciation for the inquisitiveness of young minds and for the richness found in multicultural settings.

Over the years I have had the privilege of serving God’s people in many different settings. I have ministered to patients with AIDS and walked with sojourners lost in a maze of circumstances. I have rejoiced with the newly baptized and shared the Lord’s Table with people from every walk of life.

I have been married to Cyndi Lacroix for over 30 years. Together we have four grown children and numerous grandchildren who remind us that Jesus said we must be child-like in order to understand what God’s Good News is all about.

Pastor Taylor Mills Cornelius

Pastor Taylor Mills Cornelius

Associate Pastor

I was born into a church-going home in New Jersey, and spent my childhood active in church, the arts, spending time in nature, and volunteering at a local living history farm.  The church nurtured me into a life of faith, and I left NJ for Pennsylvania to attend Eastern University, majoring in Theology.  From Eastern, I moved on to Princeton Theological Seminary and attained my MDiv.  PTS inspired within me a passion for ministry and serving God’s church.

I have loved the arts since childhood, when I was active in theater, dance, and choirs.  I love incorporating the arts into ministry, worship, and children’s/youth programs.  The arts often provide ways to praise God, lament sorrows, and draw together as a community that words alone cannot achieve.

As the Associate Pastor, my work engages me with preaching, music, pastoral care, and working with children, youth, and young families.  My greatest joy in ministry is seeing a young person grasp the truth of God’s love for them for the first time, or watching as youth dive deeper into Scripture and “light bulbs” go off as they form connections.  I have a passion for poetry and prayer, and incorporate these forms of writing into my sermons.

My greatest blessing is my family, and there’s nothing I love more than to spend time with my husband and daughter.  But I also love the sense of family that exists at WPC, and invite all to come and experience it for themselves.

Music Director

I received a performance certificate from Trinity College of Music, London in 2003 and a Bachelors of Music from Westminster Choir College, Princeton in 2006, where I performed under world-renowned maestros including Lorin Maazel, Charles Dutoit, Joseph Flummerfelt and Anton Armstrong. Winning several competitions and scholarships, I graduated from Westminster summa cum laude in three years. In 2009, I earned a Masters of Music from The Hartt School in Hartford, Connecticut under the guidance of world-renowned pianist Luiz de Moura Castro. In addition to traveling throughout the U.S. and England, Italy, France, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Denmark and Portugal for performances and festivals, I have released an album as part of the piano duo BeloSom, held a private studio of piano students, held several music ministry positions, conducted a variety of choral ensembles and coordinated a concert series. With a growing passion for choral conducting and promoting social justice through the gift of music, I produced and directed numerous benefit concerts and became the co-founder of the Springfield (Massachusetts) Unity Festival.  In 2014, I received both the “40 Under 40” award for my civic leadership and the Grinspoon Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching award for my work as a high school choral director.  In 2019, I was inducted into my high school’s Hall of Fame for the Arts for my achievements in the music industry.  I currently direct the high school vocal ensembles at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr and continue to perform extensively.  I started working at Wallingford Presbyterian Church in August 2019 and am delighted to continue to build on the thriving music ministry here!
